Street Law is excited to announce the launch of a new project in Jordan. With financial support from the German Federal Foreign Office, Street Law will implement an ambitious project designed to improve rule of law education for young people around the country. This program builds on Street Law’s thriving portfolio of international programs, which currently provide support and training to thousands of educators, law professors, community leaders, and students in countries across Europe and Asia.
Through this project, Street Law will develop an Arabic language curriculum focused on the rule of law in Jordan. Extensive consultation with Jordanian legal and educational specialists will ensure that the lessons are relevant and applicable for Jordanian young people. Following the curriculum development process, Street Law will train a pilot cohort of 60 teachers and community leaders to implement the lessons for their students and constituents. With the help of Dr. Peter Levine, we will conduct a rigorous evaluation of the outcomes of the classes. The result will be a locally relevant and tested curriculum and teacher training program that can be expanded throughout the country and the region in the future.
To implement the project, Street Law is partnering with the Arab World Center for Democratic Development United for Human Rights and Democracy (UniHRD). UniHRD is a long-time partner of Street Law’s and has helped implement several of Street Law’s civic education programs in the region.
