New Street Law Deliberation on Voter ID Laws

Street Law has developed new deliberation materials about one of the most contentious current issues related to voting in America: Should states require photo ID for in-person voting? More than 15 states have instituted such laws, and communities remain deeply divided over whether these laws help combat voter fraud or simply disenfranchise underrepresented groups. Deliberation is a great classroom strategy that has students carefully consider reasons to support both sides of a controversial issue, discuss the issue in small groups, and work to build consensus.
