Street Law Welcomes Three New Board Members

Joe Moan

Joe Moan has been with the Coca-Cola Company since 2001 and currently serves as the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer and Associate General Counsel. Joe brings deep expertise in employment law, diversity matters, and data privacy to his board service at Street Law.

Prior to his career at Coca-Cola, Joe worked at Texaco and served 26 years in the U.S. Army.

The Coca-Cola Legal Division is a stalwart partner in Street Law’s Legal Diversity Pipeline Program. Since 2002, legal department volunteers, along with volunteer attorneys and legal professionals from King & Spalding’s Atlanta office and students from Emory Law School, have taught students at Benjamin Mays High School about law and legal careers. In 2007, the Coca-Cola Company was recognized with Street Law’s Legal Diversity Pipeline Award.

In 2017, the Coca-Cola Foundation provided funding that enabled Street Law to provide professional development to 25 Baltimore City and Baltimore County teachers.

Chris Moore

As General Counsel of GE Capital Global Holdings, Chris leads GE Capital’s global law and policy organization. Since 2008, Chris has served in a variety of roles at GE, managing litigation, arbitration, and regulatory matters at business units throughout the company. He is a former partner at Goodwin Proctor and associate at Sidley & Austin.

GE launched its Legal Diversity Pipeline Program in Connecticut in spring 2007, later branching out into Atlanta, Chicago, and Erie, PA. The company was presented with Street Law’s Excellence in Service Award in 2013.

Jim Burch

Jim Burch is the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at the Police Foundation, overseeing the Foundation’s efforts to advance policing through innovations in practice and technology. Prior to the Police Foundation, he served in several roles throughout the U.S. Department of Justice, including the Bureau of Justice Assistance; the Office of Justice Programs; and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Jim’s expertise and deep experience will be invaluable as Street Law continues to grow its Police & Teens Program, which prepares and equips police officers to teach young people about the law in high schools and community settings. Its collaborative, dialogue-based approach helps build awareness, respect, empathy, and understanding between police officers and youth.
