Bring a Civil Rights Legend to Your Classroom

Street Law's Breakfast with a Civil Rights Legend program connects local leaders from law-related professions with fifth and sixth graders to teach young people about rules and laws, share their experiences with civil rights, and make connections to the students’ communities over breakfast.

To make it easier for teachers to implement a Breakfast with a Civil Rights Legend program in their classrooms, Street Law has created a Teacher Handbook with a program overview, lessons, and student journals. The information—combined with time; energy; and collaboration between the volunteers, civil rights legends, and teachers—will result in a rewarding experience that benefits everyone involved.
