Street Law is excited to welcome John Cannon, Amy D. Hammer, Jon Wood, and Regine Zuber to its Board of Directors!
John Cannon, WellPoint, Inc.
John Cannon is executive vice president, general counsel, and chief public affairs officer at WellPoint, Inc., where he oversees legal strategy, legal compliance, litigation, regulatory and board matters, government affairs, corporate communications, and corporate security. Prior to WellPoint, John was senior vice president and deputy general counsel at Cigna.
John became involved with Street Law through the Legal Diversity Pipeline Program. Under his leadership, WellPoint implements the program with partner law firms in four cities: Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP (Indianapolis), Balch & Bingham LLP (Atlanta), Hogan Lovells (Northern Virginia), and Foley & Lardner LLP (Milwaukee).
Amy D. Hammer, Verizon
Amy D. Hammer is assistant general counsel in the litigation group at Verizon, where she manages multiple patent cases and works on patent policy issues. Prior to joining Verizon, Amy served as associate counsel and special assistant to the president in the Office of the Counsel to the President. She also served as counsel to the Office of the First Lady and worked closely with several White House offices and the Executive Residence. Previously, Amy was in private practice at Wiley Rein.
Amy first became involved with Street Law as a law student at the Georgetown University Law Center's Street Law Clinic. Today she is active in Verizon’s pro bono program, which includes participation in Street Law's Legal Diversity Pipeline Program. Since 2009, Verizon law department volunteers have worked with high schools in Basking Ridge, NJ; Chicago; Northern Virginia, and Atlanta, with the help of volunteers from DLA Piper—the company’s partner law firm in several pro bono activities. In 2012, the Verizon Legal Department received Street Law’s Legal Diversity Pipeline Award.
Jon Wood, Bridgestone Americas, Inc.
Jon Wood is the chief intellectual property counsel at Bridgestone Americas, Inc., the largest tire and rubber manufacturer in the world and the owner of the Bridgestone and Firestone brands. Prior to Bridgestone, Jon was senior counsel of intellectual property for Eastman Chemical Company and an associate at the law firm of Workman Nydegger in Salt Lake City, UT.
Jon brings to Street Law decades of IP law experience and looks forward to advising Street Law on its Educating About Intellectual Property Law initiative.
Regine Zuber, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.
Regine Zuber is senior vice president and associate general counsel for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., where she oversees employment and brand management matters. Prior to joining Turner, Regine was employment counsel for Federated Department Stores and was in private practice at Kilpatrick & Cody and Wimberly Lawson.
Turner participates in Street Law's Legal Diversity Pipeline Program. Regine and her colleagues in the law department work with students at South Atlanta High School. In 2009 Turner made a significant contribution to future outreach for Street Law's Pipeline Program by creating a promotional video about the program (view video).
