Peter was born in Brooklyn, New York and received his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University (’86) and J.D. from the University at Buffalo Law School (’89). In 2015 Peter was named Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Home Depot. 

Peter spent 20 years at General Electric, serving as the Associate General Counsel for GE Rail Services; Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel for GE Equity; General Counsel for GE Technology Financial Services and GE Capital Solutions, Global Asset Management, Sourcing and Operations; and most recently, Vice President and General Counsel for GE Capital, Commercial Distribution Finance.

He began his career at Thompson Hine, a leading national law firm in Ohio, where he was a senior associate in the Corporate Transactions & Securities practice group.

He has twenty five years of in-depth experience structuring, negotiating and documenting domestic mergers, international and domestic acquisitions, dispositions, equity and debt financings, and commercial transactions for public and privately held companies and has advised all levels of management on strategic and operational matters.

Peter served as Business Champion for Developing Health Chicago (GE’s multi-year $50MM program providing grant funding and GE employee volunteer support to non-profit health centers across the United States that aims to increase access to primary care for underserved populations in targeted communities) from March 2011-October 2012. He was also co-lead of the GE Legal Diversity & Inclusion Council from 2012-2014. He is Executive Champion of the Chicagoland Hispanic Forum, and a key member of GE Capital’s Hispanic Leadership Council.

Peter is married to Ivette and they have three children. He enjoys running, reading, and spending time with his family, especially watching his children play competitive sports.
